  • Portrait photograph of Roland Leighton
    Lt Leighton interrupted his studies at Oxford University to enlist. He died, aged 19, of wounds received in the trenches at Hebuterne on 23 December 1915. Lt Leighton was the fiance of Vera Brittain, author of 'Testament of Youth' in which she describes Lt Leighton's military service and death. Lt Leighton is buried at Louvencourt Military Cemetery.
