The LH page letter of 9 Sep 1918 officially confirms his death on or after 13 Jul 1917. The RH letter instructs his effects be sent to his mother Mary McGee (née Boyle) in Adanove, Mullaghbawn, Co Armagh.

The page records that John McGee (No. 13793) enlisted with the Cheshire Regt in Birkenhead on 3.9.14. His postings are also recorded including Mediterranean Expeditionary force 28 Oct 1915 to the Dardanelles. Followed by “Missing believed killed 13.7.17”

The handwritten Army Form is a list of the NOK and close relatives of the deceased soldier Pte John McGee, produced to verify pension and widow's allowances due. Signed by John's mother, Mary McGee of Adanove, Mullaghbawn (Mullaghban). Witnessed & countersigned by a Justice of the Peace. (Mary lived a few fields from Adanove, in Slieve Gullion townland). For clarity a transcription appears alongside the Form.

Pte John McGee - DOIRAN MEMORIAL

Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC)-Memorial Certificate. John McGee remained missing on and after 13 July 1917, during one of the battles at Doiran on the Macedonian front. John McGee's name can be found on the west face of the Memorial, column 3, No 27.
