A view looking West along the valley next to the CWWGC Cemetery at Hargicourt. “21st March 1918: On the morning at 04:30 am The Battalion was ordered to take up Battle positions owing to enemy activity. This was done through heavy Gas bombardment which caused about 301 casualties. The Battalion went into action and continued the action till April 1st.” [9th Bn. Manchester Rgt.
