Ernest in the mill before the War.Ernest appears tall, standing at the centre of a group of weavers in a Burnley cotton mill.

Local paper reports Ernest taken prisoner.Burnley Express and Advertiser reports in October 20th 1917 edition that Ernest was taken prisoner on July 31st after going over the top. Correctly states that he was aged 21yrs and had joined Jan 1916 having previously been a clothlooker at Preston's Rylands Street Mill in Burnley.Contributed by:
