Sapper Samuel MarklewNot known where taken possibly France and looks like a studio posed photo the uniform is of the black watch but my grandfather was never in the Black Watch so the connection is a mystery, possibly someone will know the uniform fits very well so could have been issued to him the only thing I can think could possibly of happened is that he could have been attached to this regiment as he was a signaller in the RE.Contributed by:

Sapper Samuel A MarklewI would say that this photo was taken not long after he had joined the TA in 1913. He looks so young and he doesn’t look like he’s used to wearing his uniform, unlike the other photos showing him wearing his uniform as if he had been doing it for a while.Contributed by:
