Additional: This is my Great Uncle John, half brother to my Grandfather Daniel Ferguson (aka Taylor). It took a long time to find John, after only discovering his existence about 10 years ago, and to find out what had happened to him. John was half brother to my Grandfather Daniel Ferguson (aka Taylor) who was in the Royal Naval Reserve, Trawler Section (having previously been an apprentice on a Brixham Fishing Smack Provident BM291 which was also involved in wartime work under Section Y status - and which had rescued 71 sailors from the torpedoed HMS Formidable on 1st January 2015). John’s own father was unknown and he had 2 step fathers and 9 half brothers and sisters - Daniel, Robert and Helen Ferguson; and James (Jimmy), Margaret (Peggy), Annie, Thomas (Tommy), Jean (Jeanie) and Martha Taylor.I travelled by car from Calais on a beautiful sunny day to visit John's grave on the centenary of his death - to let him know that at last we had found him and to sing him Hallowe'en by Violet Jacob
