Additional: James Benstead is known to have been in the army from January 1908 according to his silver badge records. The 1911 census shows him with his brother Maurice, in the 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards in barracks in Hampshire. NB he was a soldier but not a tailor as well. That is a transcription error.

Additional: Correct surname, other name (Serjeant Benstead's full name prior to joining the army was Holland Benstead but he later preferred to be known as James Benstead (but on official documents as Holland James Benstead). His parents are the same here as in 1891 census when he was shown as having a younger brother Maurice. Maurice also served in the Grenadier Guards.
