Additional: this matches infomration from The Highlanders Museum at Forte George. Charles was with his brigade on the Bazentin Ridge, Charles was with the 1st Batallion camerons holding front line just north of Bazebtin-Le-Petit and North of the Contalmaison to Fleurs Road about 1200 yards from the western side of High wood. He was caught in extensive enemy artillery barrage. His Patrol Leader was captain D. E. Brodie was also killed and his body never found, its possible Charles suffered an identical and simultaneous fate.

And considered fit to join. He was sent to Invergordon the next day under Colonel Mackintosh. He was 18 years and 3 weeks, and a steel worker.
