Additional: ‘Capt. Nevins, who died on 17th March 1950, was a well-known personality in the Regiment. Enlisting in the ranks on 3rd September, 1894, he was R.Q.M.S. of the 1st Battalion when proceeding to France in August, 1914. Promoted to R.S.M. on 31st December, 1914, he was afterwards commissioned and appointed Adjutant of the 1st Battalion in 1916. Wounded in 1918, he returned to the Battalion and was Adjutant when it re-formed in 1920. During this period he was awarded the Military Cross and the French Médaille Militaire. After retiring in May, 1920, he was appointed first post-war secretary of the Old Comrades Association until ill-health compelled him to retire from work at the end of 1933. His passing is much regretted by all who knew him.’
