Title: Hampshire Chronicle

Description: Report that Mr G Nias conveyed the sad news that his youngest son Frederick Nias, RE died on March 11 of a gun shot wound to the stomach from the day before. Mentions that he joined up about a year ago, and was a bricklayer for C & F Freeman Ltd, Cheriton. He was a keen sportsman (secretary of Cheriton Cricket Club) and a staunch churchman PS Hampshire Record Office have a set of National Registration Act 1915 forms for Alresford District Council (ref 45M72/Z4), the form for Frederick may well be included in the set. My grandfather Cpl William James Harfield Hampshire Rgt is listed as being a bricklayer's labourer in New Cheriton (employer unknown) in the 1911 census and as a traction engine driver for Freemans in his National Registration Act entry, so it is a possible that he may have worked with Frederick
