Title: Letter from No. 6 General Hospital, Rouen

Description: This is a letter to my grandmother informing her that her husband had been admitted to the hospital. The autor of the letter was Sister Katharine Amelia Allsop, born 3rd December 1873, daughter of a Gentleman farmer and Miller in Wiltshire She trained at St Thomas’ Hospital, London between 1899 and 1903 and joined the QAIMNS the following year as a Staff Nurse. During WW1 she became an Assistant Matron,and was awarded the Royal Red Cross 2nd Class, (ARRC) as recorded on page 6840 Supplement to the London Gazette, dated 3rd June,1919. It was not until 1st August 1926 that she was officially promoted to Matron.
