Ambrose William Nye, born 11th August 1875 at West Street, Clayton, County of Sussex. Son of Ambrose Nye, Brickyard Labourer, and Sarah Ann Nye, formerly Osborne.

On 3rd April 1899, Ambrose William Nye married Maria Davis at The Parish Church, Thorney, Nottinghamshire. Ambrose is 23 years old, and he is a Joiner. His father is Ambrose Nye, Engine Driver. Maria Davis is 23 years old and her father is Thomas Davis, Labourer. They are married in the Presence of John William Walker, and Eliza Davis, who is one of Maria's older sisters. At the time of their marriage, Ambrose is living in Sheffield (Yorkshire), and Maria is living in Wigsley (Nottinghamshire).

On 7th May 1903, Ambrose William Nye, a widower, married Kate Ellen Lane at St Giles Church, Balderton, Nottinghamshire. Ambrose is 27 years old, Joiner. His father is Ambrose Nye, Engineer. Kate Ellen Nye is 27 years old and her father is Thomas Bryon Lane, Fitter. They are married in the Presence of Thomas Lane, and Clara Ann Lane, one of Kate Ellen's younger sisters. Both Ambrose and Kate are living in New Balderton at the time of their marriage.

Ambrose' daughter Margery was born on 5th November 1903 at 7 Coronation Street, New Balderton, Nottinghamshire. Ambrose obtained this copy of her birth certificate in November 1916.

This cap badge belonged to Ambrose William Nye, and it is the badge of the Royal Engineers.
