Title: A.Roy Oram, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve

Description: Prior to joining the Army in November 1915, Roy Oram spent several months on the North Sea as a Surgeon-Probationer with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. He left to complete his final exams to qualify as a doctor, and then applied to the Admiralty for a transfer to the Army. He stated in his memoirs that there was very little medical work to do on a destroyer, and he felt his services could be better utilised on the Western Front in France.
