Title: William Quinn

Description: William Quinn #1447, member of the 2nd King Edward's Horse Cavalry, France and Flanders died in action, November 2015

Additional: William had worked in Canada on Pat Burns Ranch and developed a love of horses. When he returned home to Duns, Scotland he enlisted in the Horse Cavalry to serve in WW1. He and his younger brother Adam Quinn (Gallipoli) lost their lives in 1915.

Description: Before WW1, this photo of William Quinn was taken before he enlisted in the King's Cavalry. He had just returned from living in Calgary, Canada where he worked as a cowboy, herding cattle in the years when the Calgary Stampede began (1912) He lived his dream and then returned home to Scotland before the War started. He never married. After his death, his body was not found. He lies in Flanders Fields, France.

Description: My Grand Uncle William Quinn (Billy) loved horses and had been a cowboy in Calgary, Canada before returning to join the war effort as a Cavalry soldier. He died in Flanders, 1915 and his body was never recovered.

Description: Billy Quinn was a cowboy who loved horses. He left his home in Berwickshire, Scotland to live in Canada before the War and returned home in 1914 to join the Cavalry King Edward's Horse out of London. He is shown in Cavalry uniform. HIs duties were to ride horse and wagon teams, stable duty and care of the animals. He saw battle action in France in the Flanders area. Billy and his brother, Adam gave their lives in WW1 both dying in 1915 in battle. Bodies not found.

Billy saw the open prairies, rode horses in cattle stampedes and was present in the year 1912 for the founding of the Calgary Stampede. He returned to Scotland, his home at Whitelaw, near Duns and then enlisted in the Cavlary.
