Company Sergeant Major James Reddy.CSM Reddy of the 1st City Battalion, with his son, Lance Corporal J Reddy, photographed together at Heaton Park. CSM Reddy died of his wounds, received at Montauban, on the 6th of July 1916. He had served twenty one years in the army and fought in South Africa. His son had been wounded soon after the 1st City Battalions arrival in France.
