Family were told he was missing in action. Body not found. This is confirmed by battalion war diary and confirmation of no trace found and therefore assumed dead in WO 339/685154.

William Robertson, Royal Scots FusiliersTaken after he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Scots Fusiliers before he went to France in December 1916 where he was killed at Arras in May 1917. Prior to this he was in the 4th Royal Scots where he was promoted to Sergeant.
