Additional: Found this on internet. He is my father. Hit by shrapnel in many parts of body. Lost sight of both eyes. Worse eye removed and sight came back to the remaining one.Wore a glass eye in the empty socket. As he was unable to judge distance, he never drove a vehicle. However, he got 2 Masters Degrees.

Additional: My father was sent to Somalia after WW2 to be Director of Education in the temporary military government of this former Italian colony. Soon after, he became ill and was sent by truck on dirt roads to Nairobi Military Hospital in Kenya. He died there of Cirrhosis of the liver. This was probably caused by hepatitis caught in the WW1 trenches when wounded

Description: This the official notice of the appointment of Louis Robinson to be 2nd Lt in General List on 22 Sep 1939. He served in GHQ Cairo until Nov 1944 when he and family were shipped to UK aboard MV Queen of Bermuda in convoy.

Additional: My elder brother Keith remembers our father being in uniform on 3 Sep 1939, the day Britain declared war on Germany.
