Private Samuel Spicer, 1st Btn Bedfordshire RegtSamuel's service number suggests he enlisted into the army between January and June 1916 and, after basic training, joined the 1st Bedfordshires in the field around January 1917.

Samuel's memorialAt the time of his death, the 1st Btn are believed to have been withdrawn from the front line and were providing carrying parties for units still at the front. Probably killed by shellfire, Samuel's body was never found and he is commemorated on the Memorial to the Missing at Tyne Cot.Contributed by:
