private 15433 David stark, 17th battalion highland light infantry (Glasgow commercials) killed in action 1st July 1916, on the first day of the ill fated battle of the Somme, private David stark was the younger son of Mr and Mrs Thomas stark, of 449 Vincent street, Glasgow, he received his education at Kent road public school and at the high school, gaining a senior art scholarship at the latter he pursued his studies at school of art and technical college, he was a young man of good promise, keen in his educational development, making rapid progress in his work, tall and well developed, he joined the battalion on its formation in sept 1914, while only 17 years of age, he went out to France in oct 1915, he was reported missing 1-7-16 and since officially reported k.i.a. his body must have been recovered and laid to rest at lonsdale cemetery, authuile.
