Description: Group portrait of the Commanding officer and Officers of the 18th Brigade, Royal Horse Artillery. This brigade was formed in August 1917, and attached to the Anzac Mounted Division from that date. Back row standing second to left Lt Stower.

Additional: Image purchased from the australian war museum website. The description named all the officers in the photo. Lt Stower identified as my father who I knew to have served in the Somerset R.H.A in Arabia.

Description: Military cross awarded to: Temp.Lt John Stivens Stower, R.F.A. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during operations. After being wounded in the head, he carried on the work allotted to him for five days, until it was completed. He only gave up then as his eyes became closed up.
