Additional: As with the description, at sometime July to December 1914 these young men(2713/2714/2723/and 2739) possibly at Macclesfield recruiting center. They must have stood almost one behind another to end up with such similar numbers.

Description: In the 1901 census you will see Charles and his family at" Back lane" Church Hulme (that is the previous name of Holmes Chapel) Sproston being approximately 1/2 miles outside Holmes Chapel.

Additional: The volunteers in the early part of ww1 were in large numbers, this serge dwindled away and conscription was later brought in. Charles was with my family from Holmes Chapel in the early wave of young volunteers. The regt numbers of all this group are quite early.
