Thomas Noel Heath Stretch, swordThe unengraved sword was supplied on 5th June 1914 from the manufacturers of dress swords to the Army, Henry Wilkinson. It was later engraved with his name and the insignia of the Machine Gun Corps. After his death the sword was in the keeping of Marina J Highfield in Berkshire, England. Marina was the daughter of Theodore Stretch, Noel's first cousin. It was given to Martyn Highfield after the second world war. In 2001 he offered it to the Australian Army. After discussion it was presented to the University of South Wales Regiment. Since 2006 it has been presented annually to a Staff Cadet for 'Exemplary Conduct and Performance of Duty.Contributed by:
