  • Reminders of home life - Buzz the dog.
    Buzz and Oliver were family pets, who were around at the time of the hospital. Buzz was a very familiar character to the soldiers, appearing in lots of the photographs were have at the time. A memorable character, seeing 'a dog like Buzz' as late as 1922 set Walter Hammond reminiscing about Buzz chasing a draught across the floor of the Great Hall and took him back to the happy Christmas he spent at SH were the 'Yule log blazed in the fireplace'.
