Two of Harry Waldron's brothers who survived the events on the 1st of July. On the left is Ernest Percy Waldron, 3rd City Battalion, the 18th Manchester's, and on the right is Benson Waldron 6568, 1st City Battalion. In front is mother of all three brothers, Clara Waldron, and her youngest son, Hugh, aged six. Lance Corporal Benson Waldron, the eldest brother, was severely wounded in the leg during the attacks through Montuaban towards Montauban Alley. His wound was staunched by a tourniquet made from Second Lieutenant Nash's puttees. Hospitalized at home, Benson convalesced with others from his unit within the ranks of the 3rd Battalion of the Manchester Regiment who were stationed at Cleethorpes. Benson Waldron then underwent officer training and was Commissioned into the 19th Manchester's as an officer in C Company. He was destined to be killed at the battle of Passchendaele in 1917. Harrys other brother, Ernest, was unscathed and survived the war.
