Description: Article following the death of Isaac Wren.

Additional: The sad news has been received that Mr Isaac Wren, aged 17 years, oldest son of Police Constable and Mrs Wren, of Millom, and formerly of Ennerdale, has been killed in action in France. This is the first of Ennerdale's old scholars to fall in the war. It appears that the unfortunate young man met his death during the advance on the 25th. He was in the 8th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment. During his parents' residence at Ennerdale he attended the Ennerdale School, and was exceedingly popular with both teachers and scholars, and it was with general regret that the inhabitants of Ennerdale bade goodbye to him and his parents when they left the village. Keen sorrow is felt at his untimely end, and the sincere sympathy of their many Ennerdale friends is extended to Mr and Mrs Wren and family in their sad and irreparable loss.

Additional: To the ever increasing list of Cumberland men who have fallen in their country's fight must now be added that of Pte Isaac Wren, eldest son of PC and Mrs Wren, of 12 Lonsdale Terrace, Millom. He was attached to the Machine Gun Section of the 8th E Yorks, serving with the British Expeditionary Force, and was killed in action on the 26th September. Townspeople of Millom most feelingly sympathise with the bereaved relatives in their sad loss. The deceased youth, who was but 17 years of age, was formerly in the employ of the Carlisle Building Society, and enlisted upon the outbreak of war. We reprint a letter to hand from one of the deceased's colleagues, but official word from the War Office bears out the sad intelligence.
