Miss M. A. ChittockPicture illustrating a long interview in the British Journal of Nursing, 27/2/1915, in which Mabel describes a voyage to Flushing on 15 Feb of that year, accompanying 104 prisoners of war on board the Mecklenburgh. Once offloaded, some 200 wounded British POWs were stretchered onto the ship and accompanied back to Queen Alexandra Military Hospital. At this time Mabel was sister-in-charge of a Nursing Home in Dorset Square, W London, and the Assistant Matron-elect of the Bridgae Hospital, to be sent abroad shortly by the Order of St John of Jerusalem.Contributed by:
