Text: A LLANDOVERY HEROINE. At a meeting held at the Williams Pantycelyn Memorial Vestry, presided over by the Rev. D. J. Henry, B.A., Nurse Annie Handley, daughter of Mr. Thos. Handler, was made the recipient of a presentation by members of the Christian Endeavour Society. The chairman said the people of Llandovery were very glad Miss Handley had returned 'home safely after her terrible experience on board the Britannic.' Responding, Nurse Handley (who is a Red Cross nurse) modestly said she did not think she had performed any heroic act. As soon as the ship was struck by torpedoes the officers' were so calm that all the nurses, and in fact all on board, were able to get into the boats. Speeches were delivered by Coun. T. Roberts, J.P., Mr. A. Aldridge, and Mrs. I Edwards, Waterloo (secretary), Mr. Handley thanked the speakers for their remarks.
