M y grandfather was the sergeant in A Company and gained his DCM for his part in the raid. The raid was so successful that it was said that it should be used as a model on how to carry out a raid.

DCM citation The London Gazette 23rd March 1917The citation refers to his bravery during the raid on the German trenches on the 10th February 1917 at Givenchy les la Bassee. He was the sergeant in charge of A Company 1st Battalion Royal West Kent Regiment.Contributed by:
