Description: Excerpt from letter:- I have Known George Fraser for the past 5 Years my acquaintance with him beginning attached to me (when I was medical Officer 1st West Lancs Bgde. R.F.A.) for duty as Private. R.A.M.C. T.F. He served with me in both peace and war. Subsequently in the 2/1st. West Lancs Fld. Amc. where I was Major & 2nd in command I had many opportunities of seeing him at work. I can state without any exaggeration that during my whole war experiences, I have never met a braver, more gallant, or more trustworthy soldier. Whether carrying out his duties in nursing the sick or tending the wounded in times places of the most conspicuous danger to himself, he never failed to show the highest qualities of devotion, skill, sterling honesty of purpose.He was awarded the Military Medal for gallantry during the memorable German attack at La Basse, when our division repulsed overwhelming numbers.
