Title: My Grandad (car driver) in the Royal Flying Corps

Description: Picture /postcard was taken by R H Mills in Farnborough. It is not dated but would have to be from period Oct 1912 to Jan 1914 to coincide with my Grandads service in the RFC before he joined the Engineers

Additional: This is my Grandfather (Cyril William Wilkin). The picture is from my family collection. He joined the Royal Flying Corps in late 1912 as a 2nd Air Mechanic in No 2 Squadron (no 432) and was based at Montrose immediately prior to the war. His squadron moved to France in August 1914. He was injured when the plane he was in was bought down and was subsequently discharged as unfit on 16 Jan 1915. He enlisted as a Sapper with the 3rd Field Company, Royal Marine Engineers, Royal Naval Division on 3rd Feb 1915 (no. Deal/1097/S, later 236090).
