Title: Medal Roll Victory & British War Medals

Description: This is a scanned copy of Medal Roll RFA 337B page 47592 which lists 48076 Bombardier William Weston. This is sited on his medal card as the authority for the granting of the British War Medal and Victory Medal. It shows he was bust from Bombardier back to Gunner on 30 May 1919 for misconduct. The family story is that this 'Misconduct' was in fact the discovery by the Army that he had lied about his age during his first period of service from 1897 - 1909 under the service number 20207. This was discovered as he had forgotten the date of birth he had placed on the first set of forms and put a different date of birth on his second enlistment. This is not supported by any other evidence we have and may just be a family myth.

Title: William Weston (Or his brothers) Unit in India

Description: Picture of either my Grandfather William Westons unit or his brothers in India. If it is my Grandfathers then it is of men of 46 Battery Royal Field Artillery. The black animal sat on the lap of one of the soldiers in the front row was a baby bear. Sadly when the unit returned to the UK they were not allowed to take it with them and it was killed and skinned. My aunt was given the small bearskin by my Great Grandfather when she was a child.

Additional: The picture comes from a family photo album and is (according to my eldest uncle who is in his 70's) of either my Grandfather William Westons unit or his brothers in India. The location of India has been verified by the Royal Artillery Archives in Woolwich who examined the photo. If it is my Grandfathers then it is of men of 46 Battery Royal Field Artillery.
