James Brown's Grave

James Brown is buried in Grave VIII.I.127, Boulogne Eastern Cemetery, Boulogne, Pas de Calais, France. The flowers were laid by his daughter Norah Morrison (nee Brown on visiting his grave for the first time).

James Brown's father.

James Brown's father, also called James Brown was born in Dunns, Berwickshire, in 1845. He lost two sons in World War One, his eldest son Walter was killed at the Battle of the Somme in October 1916.

Awarded the Queen's South Africa Medal 1899-1902 with 5 Clasps: Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902, the 1914 Star, the British War Medal 1914-20, the Victory Medal 1914-18 and the Territorial Efficiency Medal 1908.

Medal Ribbon

This letter, dated 18 February 1918 was sent to my grandmother by the Officer Commanding 32 Remount Squadron, Major D FitzGerald. Attached to the letter were the two medal ribbons (Queen's South Africa Medal and Territorial Efficiency Medal) worn by my grandfather James Brown when he died on 5 December 1917. The letter read "Attached herewith the Ribbon worn by your late husband".
