Private Ralph Thomas Percy Bayley, 1893 to 1918, of the Canadian Infantry is buried and commemorated in this cemetery. We will remember

BANDSMAN R. T. PERCY BAYLEY (killed). Official news has been received from the Canadian War Office of the death in action, in France, of Bandsman RT Percy Bayley, 58th Batt. Canadians, elder son of Mr and Mrs J Bayley of 7 Springfield Rd, St Annes and brother of Q-M Sergt. Leonard J Bayley, who is also in France. Bandsman Bayley went out to Canada during 1911 and enlisted at London, Ontario in 1915, coming over with the 110th to England in 1916. When in St Annes he was a scholar at Heyhouses School, was connected with the Parish Church and for some years was a chorister. His last leave at home was in January last. In his last letter home he hoped to be on leave again in early November. Had he come through safely, his plans were prepared for taking up fruit farming in Canada.

BAYLEY: Killed in action, October 1st 1918, RT Percy Bayley, 58th Batt. Canadians, elder son of Mr and Mrs J Bayley of 7 Springfield Rd, St Annes, aged 25 years. “Thy will be done”.

Records: Killed in action on 01/10/18. “This soldier was hit in face by enemy shrapnel and was last seen starting for the rear. No detail of the actual circumstances of his death are available”. Died near Tille and buried at Ramilles British Cemetery

Available from Find My Past school records it records Percy's attendance at the HMS Indefatiguable training ship on the River Mersey at Rock Ferry, Birkenhead, Cheshire from 10 April 1908 to 22 April 1911.
