  • Preliminary death notice from the Admiralty
    DE 5686/3 Admiralty to Neep’s sister? 15 Jan. 1918 HMS Opal was lost after grounding in very heavy weather with a violent snow storm raging on 12 January. Only Able Seaman William Sissons saved. Regretted that Able Seaman 233998 Henry Douglas Neep ‘must, in the absence of any evidence to the contrary, be regarded as having lost his life’.
