Description: The birthdate you have for CPO Taylor on the website is incorrect (although this is the birthdate on his naval service record). He was in fact born in St Peter Port, Guernsey on 9.5.1880 and died in the same place on 26.3.1962. He was a career sailor, joining the Royal Navy in 1900 and leaving it to return to Guernsey in 1922. At the time of Jutland he was 36 years old and a Petty Officer Stoker. He was promoted to Chief Petty Officer in June 1916. He had 11 children in total. My father, born in 1930, was his 9th. He had his last child in 1938. CPO Taylor, who probably survived by sheer fluke, can lay claim to dozens of descendants in the island of Guernsey today. - Rose-Marie Crossan
