Able Seaman Edgar Easby Sharpe, aka Grandad.Edgar was a gunner at the Battle of Jutland aboard the HMS Valiant, and wrote an account of the battle which is now with the Imperial War Museum, London. Edgar served on numerous ships and was proud to have been associated with HMS Rodney. He regularly told us about that ship's 16" guns, which were later used with devastating effect during WW2 in the final battle with the German battleship Bismark.
