Both are interned in Hillingdon Cemetery Middlesex England.

My grandfather Alfred is standing in the centre. I obtained this and other photo's on a visit to Australia where I visited one of many cousins who had this and many more photo's and postcards sent by my grandfather to his parents Alfred and Gertrude Benton. Apparently my grandfathers sister Agnes served as a nurse in the second world war and had visited their parents in London during the blitz. My great grandmother had handed over family documents so Agnes could take them back to Australia.

Alfred's name, rank etc. appears as #25 person to transfer in from the RFC (see next photo, c/w wrong middle initial J instead of G)

RFC men were transferred into the RAF, Alfred G Benton is listed as #25 in volume 1 of the RAF Muster Roll. His wife Florence was given a copy by the RAF Hendon Museum on her 99th. Birthday, her eldest grandson Richard had organised this as he was a member of the RAF Hendon social club.

A picture of the entrance gates to RAF Cranwell college that were built by my grandfather during his 5 year tour of duty as an instructor in the Boys Wing of No 2 school of technical training. The picture has his grandson Cpl Paul Benton who at the time was serving in the RAF police force standing at the gates

Agnes with daughters Joan and Betty. Agnes and her brothers and one sister all emigrated to Australia after the war leaving Alfred the only sibling to have stayed in the UK. Photo provided by Neville Benton of Brisbane Australia.
