Ernest, in the Home Guard, was on night duty at the Plymouth dockyard with a young lad. He told the lad to go home. Later that same night a bomb fell on the dockyard and Ernest was killed.

Ernest with Claude, Edna, Win and Lucie.The family. Edna dies from TB in 1925 and another son, David is born in 1926. The picture was taken before Edna's death.Contributed by:

The Gallipoli bullet.The indentation is clear. Ernest was invalided out of the marines as a result of this wound. Lucie, his wife, had it made into a necklace which she always wore round her neck. It was inherited by her son, David.Contributed by:
