Donald's deathThis is an entry in the 1917 diary of Donald's oldest brother John (my grandfather). On the page 23rd February he wrote:- "Donald killed in action with the Turk. Vicinity of El Arish, Egypt - Hard luck". "Received wire from Bob re above on 28th". "By letter from Sergt Ferguson. Don was killed in a charge at Khan Yunis where he is buried. He was the 1st N.Z. soldier to fall in the Holy Land".Contributed by:
