Description: A forum discussion surrounding the circumstances of Second Lieutenant Carter's death:- "Lt C T L Donaldson and his observer, 2Lt Seton Rodney Carter (formerly Royal Engineers and 17th Bn, Lancashire Fusiliers), were killed in action while flying BE2e 7241 on 17 April 1917. They were on a photographic mission to Metz, when shot down by Ltn Heinrich Gontermann of Jasta 5 near Metz-en-Couterre, it was the eleventh of his eventual forty-nine victories. 7241 came down inside British lines, but both crew members were already dead."
