Object description: Dorothy Fox, Voluntary Aid Detachments. Died of pneumonia contracted on duty 03 November 1918. Inscription: Dorothy Fox who died of pneumonia on service, 3.11.18.

A darkened grey stone with the inscription in blocky inset capitals. On either side, standing on cut out plinths, are two female figures. On the left in a long draped dress and head dress holding a laurel wreath and on the right, bareheaded except for a floral wreath, in a long dress with square neckline, hands in some kind of gauntlets?

A Memorial to Voluntary Aid Detachment and Professional Nurses who lost their lives in the 1st and 2nd World Wars, at the National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas, Staffordshire, dedicated and unveiled on 4th June 2018 at an event attended by HRH The Countess of Wessex GCVO, Royal Patron of the Nursing Memorial Appeal. The memorial takes the form of hands cast in bronze holding a globe carrying the names of nurses who lost their lives in service in the two World Wars.
