Description: A collection of papers relating to the Baritone singer Bantock Pierpoint and his tours with the Lena Ashwell Concert Parties, comprising: Two ms diaries for 1916 (c.110pp), with brief entries and used mainly as note and address books, but also containing entries for two concert parties in March - April 1916 and December 1916 - January 1917; a photograph of a concert party standing by a flooded shell-hole; five ms letters of appreciation (5pp), for his work in France, from the YMCA secretaries in Calais and Boulogne and E A James, a fellow artist on the tour (April 1916 - August 1917); a Field Medical Card completed as a Red Cross Train Card (January 1917); a casualty name tag given to Pierpoint when hospitalised at Etaples for Bronchitis; and a ts handout entitled 'Concerts at the Front' relating to entertainments for the troops organised jointly by the Lena Ashwell Company and the YMCA.
