Birth Reg. Q4 1888, Wayland District, Norfolk – Bertie Morley Elmer (GRO; 4b 254). Censuses say born Attleborough. His mother, Emily Elmer married Walter Morley, carpenter, (Reg. Q1 1890 Guiltcross District, Norfolk). ‘Bertie’ was baptised in Banham Church, Norfolk 12 June 1892, born 3 Nov. 1888 – Herbert Morley Elmore[sic] son of Emily Elmore now Morley. (Bishop’s Transcripts). His known siblings were; Ernest, Ethel and Jessie. Census day 1891, Banham, Bertie, aged 2 with parents and baby Ernest. Recorded as Herbert in 1901, Banham, with parents and siblings. Working away in 1911 – Terrington St Clements, Norfolk. Herbert Morley, 22, single, Wheelwright, a boarder.
SDGW Roll says enlisted Banham, residence Wymondham (Norfolk). Theatre – Home. Previous unit 25014 Norfolk Reg’t. Register of Soldiers Effects – died at 1st Eastern General Hosp. Cambridge. Death Reg. Q3 1913 Cambridge Dist. as Albert Morley, age 27 (GRO 3b 445). No Medal Card or Service/Pension Record
