Description: Trooper Edwin BOOTH. 1st Battalion Canadian Mounted Rifles. Killed in action on 5th June 1916 aged 30 during the Battle of Mount Sorrel, in Belgium. Lieutenant Charles BOOTH. Royal Naval Reserve of HMS Hazel. Died of influenza at Mudros in Salonika on 13th December 1918 aged 28. Flight Sub-Lieutenant Frank BOOTH. Royal Naval Air Service. Died of wounds on 3rd January 1918 near Lille in France after landing his aircraft while injured. Charles, Edwin and Frank BOOTH were brothers and the three sons of Edwin Charles and Florence Booth of ‘Rainow’, Nantwich Road, Wistaston, Crewe.

Description: 'Frank Booth was the eighth son of the late Mrs Booth of Rainow, Crewe. He was born at Crewe on 9 April 1899, and entered Oundle (Grafton House) in January 1915, leaving in July 1917. He was a member of the XV. He joined the Naval Air Service, and was shot down, badly wounded, on January 3 1918, he died the same evening in the German lines.'

Title: Oundle School website (including photo of Frank Booth)

Description: 'Frank Booth of Grafton was the first Oundelian to die in 1918 – on 3rd January. He was actually the eighth son of a family from Crewe in Cheshire but the only one who came to Oundle, where he was a member of the XV and scored quite a number of tries. He was in Grafton for two years from 1915-17 and went off to join the Naval Air Service. On 3rd January 1918, he was shot down, badly wounded behind German lines, north of Arras in France and died the same evening, officially as a Prisoner of War. He was one of the youngest Oundelian casualties of the war, dying at the age of 18 years and 8 months. Buried by the Germans, his body was exhumed after the war and re-buried at the Cabaret-Rouge Cemetery in Souchez, alongside fellow Oundelians Arthur Railton and George Fenchelle'.
