Chevalier de l’Ordre de Leopold from King AlbertAs a Territorial officer Myer served with distinction throughout the first world war. While at Leeds he had undertaken investigations for the War Office on water purification in the field, and his first post in the Army was that of commanding officer of the first mobile hygiene laboratory in the B.E.F. As sanitary officer to the Second Army he had much to do with the control of typhoid fever among the Belgian population. Later he became A.D.M.S. (Sanitation) at the headquarters of the Italian Expeditionary Force. Awarded the D.S.O. in 1917, he was appointed O.B.E. in 1919 and was the recipient of honours from the Belgian and Italian Governments. Later he served on the Chemical Warfare Committee of the Medical Research Council, and he was also technical consultant to the Laboratoire des Vaccins Pasteur (pour l'Etranger), Paris. from BMJ ObituaryContributed by:

Ypres Plate presented to MyerIn 1914 Myer rejoined the RAMC and was sent to the 2nd Army and appointed Officer Commanding a Mobile Hygiene Laboratory in the Ypres-Poperinghe area, and as Sanitary Officer he worked to control typhoid fever amongst the Belgian civilians. He was made a Chevalier de l’Ordre de Leopold by King Albert. The Mayor of Ypres presented him with a City plate. From a meeting dated 3 April 1915: "In answer to a question by Monsieur le Bourgmestre, Monsieur l'Ingénieur Vanderghote let know that he has taken the necessary measures for the water, feeding Dickebusch lake to enter this lake as abundant as possible and that it won't be lost in the future. This reserve is big enough to meet the needs of the British Army. Arrangements have been made to these means. Monsieur l'Ingénieur has passed on the message to Monsieur le Capitaine Coplands that, as far as water is concerned, in the future he has to deal with the city administration".Contributed by:
