Transcription: Name: Joseph Cottam. Address: 14 Silver St, Preston. Occupation: Winding Master. Regiment: 7th Borders. Rank and Regimental Number: Private 28394. Date of Birth: October 4th 1891. Place where killed or injury received: Monchy. Remarks: Enlisted in the Loyal North Lanc’s but was subsequently transferred to the 7th Border Regt on arriving in France with which Regt he met his death. He was in France only 6 weeks.
