He was connected with the Newbridge (Wolverhampton) club, capturing many local trophies and rendering valuable service for his county in inter-county matches. In doubles his partner was generally either his brother or Claude Whitehouse, now a second lieutenant in the R.F.A. It was with the latter that he played in 1914 when after strenuous games Staffordshire annexed the county championship. Corporal Willcock came from a well known respected family in Wolverhampton and was very popular in sporting circles. While at the Wolverhampton Grammer school he captained both football and cricket elevens.
