Pte A Curbishley (Albert Edward) Killed in action. Little more than 17 when he joined Kitchener’s Army. Posted to Cheshire Regiment in France wounded by a bullet passing though him in Nov 1914. Returned to front in February. His commanding officer wrote “a fine soldier always performing his duties in a quiet and willing manner…he will be greatly missed by all his comrades” His parents are residents of Bexton Road and have three other sons serving Pte J. Curbishley (39) Pte Harry Curbishley (28) and Sgt Leigh Curbishley
