Obituary

As reported in the Coleraine Chronicle, my great grandfather Joseph Diamond died aged 46 in a hospital in Leeds on 9/2/1918, having been evacuated there from the trenches. He came from, and is buried in, Portrush in Northern Ireland, with a military headstone. He was over the age of enlistment. His second son Joseph was under the age of enlistment but took the date of birth of his brother (my grandfather). He was released for his father's funeral but was shot 3 months later and is buried in Gwalia military cemetery
