Gunner Harold Pearson (Service no. 215027) served with ‘D’ Battery, 86th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. He was born in Manchester, the son of Charles and Elizabeth Pearson, who lived at 44 Dean Road, Cadishead. He attended St Mary’s Church and Sunday School and was educated at Cadishead Council School. Before the war he was employed as an apprentice fitter at Messrs Royles Ltd Engineers. He enlisted at Manchester in 1916. He died of wounds on Saturday, 31st August 1918, aged 20, and is buried in the Aubigny Communal Cemetery Extension, Pas-de-Calais, France. The inscription on his headstone reads: ‘Lo, I am with you always even unto the end of the world’.
